I have been thinking about creating a new series to replace this one – something that is more planned out. But at the same time it’s just so dang nice to have a day to share the miscellaneous things that inspire me weekly. Here are three things that made me feel good this week:

2014, lavender bee’s knees, salted caramel + nutella stuffed double chocolate chip cookies

It’s Friday and I have the day off! I have a love/hate thing going on with days off. On the one hand, I have the whole day to work on projects, clean, and do whatever I want. I have been really serious about “catching daylight” lately. When the sun goes down at 4pm, I have to make sure to get as much photographing done before then. There are so many afternoons that I spend inching my table closer and closer to the window to try to get perfect shots of food or crafts just before the sky darkens. During my days off, I can get those daylight hours.

On the other hand, money. Here’s to slowly making my way toward a full-time career. :)

Happy Weekend my friends! What do you have planned?

New Year’s Eve Party Inspiration

12/29/2013 by Jennifer 2 Comments

This year I’m ringing in the new year with a few friends at my house. I went shopping for decorations today and I may have gone a little overboard…you can never have too much confetti though right? I can’t wait to deck the halls with gold and silver and tons of glitter. In the mean time, I am inspired by so many eye-catching party ideas floating around the interwebs this time of year.

Are you doing anything to celebrate the New Year? Have any resolutions in mind?

See you soon with some last minute NYE party crafts!

What a week it has been. I haven’t felt this busy since before I graduated! But it’s a good kind of busy because I am doing some things I really love…not writing papers. :)

I want to start the weekend off right with a picture of this baby pug ohmygosh. I am so in love. Looking at pictures of baby animals truly is the key to happiness.

I have been eyeing variations of this necklace for a while now. Someday I might have to buy it for myself already! I would wear it every day.

I can’t even take this… A knitted snood?! For a puppy? Breathe, breathe, breathe…

And lastly, I am loving this simple typography. While I am all about the “make it happen” attitude, I also keep trying to remind myself that it is happening. It’s happening. Right now. We are just in charge of how awesomely it is happening, whatever “it” may be.

What does your weekend look like? Any sweet plans? I am working all day every day, but I’m looking forward to getting blog and shop stuff done on my train rides to work and back. I’m still working on the blog design, slowly but surely. :)

Does anybody else get P!NK’s “Here Comes the Weekend” (ft. Eminem) stuck in their head every Friday? Just me? Yeah, I guess maybe I bought her cd last year and played it on repeat for many, many weeks. I’m a sucker for angsty girl power pop music.

1. This kitchen is beeaautiful! I’m super picky about what my future house will look like, but I think I want the kitchen to look just like this.

2. Can anyone tell me if these sheep are real? Apparently, a Scottish farmer dyes his sheep with non-toxic dye to entertain motorists. When I came across this photo the other day, I laughed for a really long time in the back room of my work. It completely made my day. But I just read something that said it’s all a joke. Help!

3. Lastly, I love this simple hairstyle. I did my hair just like this today with a big gold bow. Then I took it out before I got on the train, because I was insecure. I need to get over it and just wear bows.

Happy Friday! I’m on the train and off to work now. Feeling kind of bummed because I left my jacket in my car (brr!) but I am also very happy because I only have two more days of work until my getaway to Portland. More on that tomorrow. :)

playing favorites

10/04/2013 by Jennifer 6 Comments

Good morning! Today, my favorites consist of things that remind to stay inspired and optimistic. I am working every single day (no weekends, ahhh!) for a while and I’m worried that I will miss out on rest and also that I might be distracted from crafty at-home goals. It is times like these that I’m so glad I truly love my jobs.

(one, two, three)

I’m not usually motivated or encouraged by words like, “Try Hard Today”. I don’t get worked up or anything – it mostly makes me feel more stressed out. Something draws me to this pretty typography though. It reminds me of something that happened a few years ago…rabbit trail time!

I was in a leadership program at my college and we always did this session called something like “Leaving a Legacy”. It was about being intentional in your work and in your interactions with others so that you will leave behind a legacy. Obvs. Anyway, one day we were taken to a cemetery and we had to seek out inspiring tombstones. It was a strange mix of interesting and awkward and maybe just maybe inspiring. I found a tombstone that said, “She did her best”. It resonated with me so deeply that I don’t think I will ever forget it.

All we can really do is our best. It’s not a cop out. It is what makes us human. And so, “Try Hard Today” reminds me of that moment in the cemetery. It almost means the same thing to me, that I should try my best.

I have said it a thousand times before but I always go overboard with goal setting to the point that I accomplish nothing. I am learning to prioritize and treat myself healthier so that I have more energy throughout the day (today I chose broccoli over pizza. yay!) And more importantly, I am learning to calm down. When I think I’ll be late for work, especially, I just breathe slowly and deeply. It’s working for me.

This is turning into a personal blog, huh? I’ll get back to the crafts soon, don’t worry. :)

Happy Friday to you! Do you have any plans for this weekend. How is October treating you so far?

playing favorites & saying goodbye to summer

09/20/2013 by Jennifer 1 Comment

It’s the last weekend of summer, guys! I’m reeaally sad about summer ending. I mean really. I need to get over it.

I haven’t been blogging very much in the past week or so because… I don’t know. I’m a bit all over the place lately. After moving into the new house, I tried to get started on making my room an inspiring and neat place. I’ll just say that it is not going to happen as fast as I’d hoped. Also, I’m still hoping to open my shop again by October! I am working on some new products and I still have a lot of old products. Taking a break for the summer was nice, but it should be really fun to get the shop up and running again. In addition to all of the moving and planning things, I got a second job! At Paper Source, which happens to be right next to the Anthropologie I work at. I am so happy and thankful. Now that I have two jobs in a city that’s almost an hour and a half away from me, I should probably just move to that town right? Something is just telling me not to. I love where I live. I love where I work. I love taking the train. :)

And I love these:

1. I think these are the best summer colors.

2. This is one of the most accurate images to describe my dream house. White walls, wood walls, beautiful windows. It takes my breath away.

3. Whenever I see diamonds I have to sing rap, “Diamonds on my neck, D-diamonds on my grill.” I can’t be the only one.

4. Cauliflower pizza! Oh my gosh. I don’t know why I haven’t made this yet.

5. And lastly, I don’t have a case of the blahs, but sometimes I do. Sometimes we all do.

Lately when I mention blogging and crafting to people, I get the same response. “Oh you mean like Pinterest?” I think Pinterest is a great avenue to finding beautiful things (duh, that’s where I found all of these images!). But the beauty lies in the sources of the images, not in Pinterest. And those sources are people – super talented and wonderful people. Feel free to click the links above. You’ll probably end up on a never-ending rabbit trail of aaamazing things. :)

Anyway, have a happy last couple days of summer! Today I’ll celebrate with a summery beverage or something. Are you already in fall mode or are you holding onto summer still?
