Today was such a great day! Normally I transition slowly from summer to classes, but I have loved today. Yesterday, I moved into my apartment. My roommates are the best. I have seven roommates which may seem like a lot, but it’s all I know.
Ashley made us breakfast this morning! |
How perfect. |
After starting my day off with delicious gluten/wheat free waffles, I checked my blogroll quickly (it’s up to 400, seriously), only to find that I won a giveaway at Sarahndipities! I am so happy!!! This means that I will be featured on her blog as a “sponsor,” but for free, until the end of October. Hooray! Unfortunately, I don’t have a 100×100 button so I’m working on that right now. Then I am allowed to sleep.
Today was awesome for other reasons, too. My classes were nice. I received Photoshop and a make-your-own stamp kit in the mail (fun times are headed my wayyy). I saw friendly faces after a long summer. We had campus communion. Then finally, Ashley and I walked to the gym, worked out slightly, got Starbucks, and came home. This was such a productive day! It may not last for long, but it’s refreshing to finally be busy again after a summer of lazing away in a pile of crafts.
Still, I want to make time for crafting. I need to. For the sake of my health. The cool thing is I am leading a small group focused on arts and crafts (and Jesus. cool guy.) that starts on Monday. A couple of guys signed up for it. That’s cool! I wasn’t expecting it though, so I may have to scratch the diy flowers from the syllabus.
I’m feeling thankful. Thankful, thankful, thankful. Would it be cheesy to jump on the “Thankful Thursday” bandwagon or am I overdoing it with alliteration days?
PS. no Color Wheel Wednesday this week, but I am digging green today :)
P.P.S. I may be driving back up to Portland with my mom this weekend because my grandpa isn’t doing well. We are praying lots. It will be nice to spend some quality time with him.
My weekend, the last hurrah of vacation, was really nice!

We celebrated my mom’s birthday with a cute cake that my aunt Deb made with whole wheat flour, chocolate, strawberries, whipping cream, and other delicious things.

I returned home to find a few packages, including tape from CuteTape and clay molds from MoldMuse :) Soooo happy about them. (updates coming soon on what I have made!)
Tomorrow, I will move into my apartment and my classes will start on Wednesday. The first day of school! For the last time. Earlier this summer, people started asking me what I was going to do after college. I replied, “I don’t know” to everyone, mostly. I told some people I would be a beekeeper and they laughed or looked at me funny. I told other people, like my eye doctor, that I didn’t want to do anything “professional” (wrong answer!) and he gave me a weird look too.
It’s funny how during school, seasons are defined by when the semester starts. And when you graduate, you are so shaken because all of the seasons mesh together and you have to start basing them off of the actual weather.
Anyway, I am looking forward to moving in tomorrow. I have a lovely roommate this year, and a super fun apartment in general. We are going to have so many nights of crafts, baking, and studying together, as well as get togethers with lots of people in other apartments.
I’d better get some sleep so I can survive tomorrow.
PS:
(title inspired by my super wonderful friend Alyssa at Roots and Petals, who loves summer as much as I do)
I’m spending this weekend at my aunt’s lovely cottage! She and my uncle own 95 acres of wonderful land, full of big trees, goats (lots of babieeesss), mules, dogs, etc. I am happy to be here. It is the most perfect way to spend my last weekend of freedom. Right now, my mom is deep cleaning the cottage and listening to her funky African music. She just began singing like Snow White too. That explains a lot about me, I guess.
Like my mask? I don’t want to inhale any fumes. |
…and I am making pretty things this weekend! Really. Not just talking about how I want to make them. Things are getting done.
(sidenote)
Yesterday, my sister Danali turned six so we had a small get together. Adalin, my other little sister, presented Danali with this beautiful scarf:
Adalin is so talented and she’s only seven. I taught her how to double crochet, but I didn’t know she actually understood it. The hippie headband is courtesy of the birthday girl herself!
One thing I will miss about the summer is getting to have craft parties with my sisters whenever I want. My schedule for the semester turned out to be quite perfect, so I may have to take weekly trips home to see my family. If there is anything I’ve learned during my college experience, it’s that family time is so, so important. And I have the most amazing family ever. Seriously, I feel like I should dedicate a blog post to each member and just ramble about them for days.
(Also! Happy World Photography Day! And I just found out that tomorrow is National Honey Bee Day? This might be my favorite weekend. Ever.)
In honor of my last seven days of summer :)
