Color Wheel Wednesday | Primary Colors

07/23/2014 by Jennifer 9 Comments

I have a strong tendency to blog about things that I originally didn’t like but now almost love. In yesterday’s Ugly Betty post, you might have noticed a lot of primary colors. I have never liked primary colors, ever. Not even when I was a little kid. “Ketchup and mustard,” I’d say. Not cute. Not even with a little blue thrown in to balance things out. However, I should know by now that I can’t trust myself to make strong opinions about anything design-related because a different perspective can easily change everything. Thanks to a little interior trend called Primary Modernism, I am rethinking the way I feel about these colors.

Everybody, meet my new friends – Red, Yellow, and Blue:

7. Weekend Home of Fab.com Creator, Bradford Shellhammer

My favorite photo from this list is #6 probably because the mix of primary colors is so subtle. Do you enjoy mixing primary colors together, or do you have a love-hate thing going on like I do?

Color Wheel Wednesday | Amber

07/16/2014 by Jennifer 6 Comments

Now you might be thinking, “Jenn, it’s summer! Why are you blogging about such an autumny color?” But chances are you don’t overthink colors as much as I do. Amber is very much an autumn-like color but it catches my eye all of the time these days, particularly in the form of vintage glassware. I unpacked some of my kitchen items the other day and found that I kind of have a lot of amber glassware! When I had roomies, I kept most of my glassware in boxes but now I can display it freely without causing clutter. Amber is such a pretty, classic color and I’m finding that it looks lovely next to mint and turquoise shades (a blog post for another time, I suppose).

That candle (#5) is my favorite candle in the entire world. If I were only allowed to buy one type of candle for the rest of my life, it would be this Voluspa Baltic Amber candle. I love the scent and the beautiful jar almost equally.

Happiest of Wednesdays to you. I hope you have time to do something that inspires you.

Color Wheel Wednesday | White

06/04/2014 by Jennifer Leave a Comment

I’ve written a lot about white walls, so I won’t get into that. Point is: I like them a lot!! I also like white bedding, white nail polish, white shorts. And anything else that gives off that breezy, summery vibe.

I love that no matter how bright and white a room is, white is never the focal point. It always allows the colorful objects to capture our attention. How selfless of you, White.

Color Wheel Wednesday | Cobalt & White

04/23/2014 by Jennifer 4 Comments

I just have to start by saying that for the past year, I haven’t really been a fan of the color blue. At all. How weird is that?! Who in the world doesn’t like blue, and who even feels that strongly about colors anyway? Apparently I do. In an effort to be less of a weirdo, I’ve been slowly letting the color blue back into my life. Cobalt is my favorite shade. It’s rich, summery, and reminds me of Greece. Lately, cobalt and white prints are arriving at my work all the time, and I don’t hate them. :)

Sooo…anybody want to go to Greece with me?

Color Wheel Wednesday | Blush

02/20/2014 by Jennifer 3 Comments

Last Valentine’s Day, I developed a newfound love for the color pink. I thought it would be a short-lived phase, but pink and I have been going strong for over a year now! I love coral in the summertime, pale pink during winter and fall, and those bright hot pink accents that come around in early spring to remind us that winter isn’t forever. Today I want to share my appreciation for that pale pink color we like to call “blush” or “peach”. Pretty sure it’s my favorite shade of pink year round.

I’m planning to spend the next week getting serious about my Blogger-to-Wordpress switch, so hopefully I will have the “new” blog up by March-ish. It’s a longer process than I thought it would be, mostly because it takes a ton of patience. Also, I don’t want to be hasty about my blog design. Branding, branding, branding. It’s happening.

How are you? Do you have anything you’re working on lately?
