Color Wheel Wednesday | White Walls, Bright Accents

01/30/2013 by Jennifer 7 Comments

I used to dream of a house with deep, rich colored walls and wooden furniture. The wooden furniture is still a “yes please,” but lately I have been drawn to plain, white walls. They let everything else in the room pop. In my house, we don’t have many sources of light, but the rooms still look bright and airy because of the white walls. Also, like I said, I am loving having a plain background for product photos.

I prefer the smaller accents in #1 and #5, but the others are really fun too.

How do you like your walls? Plain…patterned…colorful?

Color Wheel Wednesday | Emerald

01/23/2013 by Jennifer 3 Comments

Today’s color is the rich and beautiful jewel tone, emerald! I love that it’s the Pantone Color of the Year. I recently bought an emerald cardigan and I think it is such a great color for the upcoming spring season.

I would take any one of these in a split second. I mean, look at that coat! And the beautiful bathroom floor! This really is a lovely color. Emerald everything, please.

Color Wheel Wednesday | Gold

Gold is my color of choice all through winter. Gold and, I dunno, sparkles? I’m a little predictable these days.

I love all of these so much! Each of them are on my wish list or craft to-do list.

Color Wheel Wednesday | Plum and Goldenrod

12/12/2012 by Jennifer 4 Comments

Here’s the honest truth. I can’t deal with purple and yellow! In kindergarten, my teacher taught me that purple and yellow create brown. After that, I found it crazy to put the two together. It’s been my pet peeve since then. However, the other day I looked down and realized I was wearing a mustard yellow scarf and purple jeans. Uh oh. Only the thing is, I liked it. This is a color combination I am learning to love. Or…like. After all, I am an adult. Maybe it’s time to look past the strong opinions I made as a five year old.

To get as far away as possible from bright purple and bright yellow, I’d like to call this color duo “plum and goldenrod.” They are both rich jewel tones and together, they look just dandy.

Isn’t that dress beautiful? I love it.

Color Wheel Wednesday | Winter Palette

12/05/2012 by Jennifer 4 Comments

When I think of winter colors, I think of greys and hints of light pink or peach. And sparkles. A lot of them. I joked with my roommate that my wardrobe will become 100% sparkly by the end of the winter and I’ll have no more items in solid colors. I love sparkles. You know who’s on the same page as me? Anthropologie. These are some of my favorite finds in my favorite winter colors:

Color Wheel Wednesday | Black and Brown

10/24/2012 by Jennifer 8 Comments

I have heard that black and brown together are a faux pas, but I think they’re perfect for fall. It’s all a matter of preference I guess :)

What are your thoughts on this color team?
