color wheel wednesday: Gap edition

02/09/2012 by Jennifer 3 Comments

So this week I had an interview at Gap! It wasn’t what I expected. I was asked one question (“Tell me about yourself…”) before the interviewer told me to pick out a cute outfit for myself or a friend. Automatically, I walked over to the bright and colorful khakis. And what did I choose?

I want to say I chose these. It was such a blur! All I know is that I wish I would have started the outfit with something brighter. I am a sucker for earth tones.
There is still hope though, and hopefully in a week I’ll have good news. If not, I will continue to job search. I know I’m not alone in this boat, and I guess it’s nice to have so much spare time.

I love Gap because everything is so wearable! I have learned that buying super eclectic clothing will only result in me having a bright and pretty closet of things I don’t wear. I mentioned this a few days ago, but I love the idea of incorporating funky prints and details into simple, classic styles. I’m also trying to learn to accessorize. It turns out my new roommate has a thousand necklaces. And she said I can borrow them whenever I’d like :) so that will be fun.
Are you a minimalist when it comes to fashion, or do you enjoy accessorizing? Would you go for bright khakis or the earthy ones? :)

color wheel wednesday: peach

01/25/2012 by Jennifer 3 Comments

I don’t even remember the last time I posted a color of the week! Sometimes I get really tired of primary colors. Especially when it comes to yarn. But today I stumbled upon a lonely skein of peach colored yarn and thought, “That deserves to be turned into something beautiful.” I’m not sure what. Maybe a big slouchy hat.

yum!

peach bathroom

agh. these look so great.

source unknown. anyone know where this is from?
Peach is so girly and refreshing. Unfortunately, sometimes it can be too cupcake-y.
Last summer, I painted my room peach. It was inspired by this building I saw in Greece:
For a moment I loved it, but now it’s not my favorite. I have always wanted to paint my room golden yellow, so I’m just going to go for it. I think it will look great :) I’ll show you the shades of yellow I’m thinking of in another blog post!

color wheel wednesday: sea green & sage

11/10/2011 by Jennifer 3 Comments

The line between sea green and sage is just fuzzy. I guess it depends on what sea we’re talking about :)
I think these are so pretty:

color wheel…thursday – tortoise shell

10/13/2011 by Jennifer Leave a Comment

Remember that time I lost all of my motivation to blog? School has gotten the best of me. I feel really busy, but not stressed, which is super great. :)

Today, I love tortoise shell items, particularly glasses, such as my own! I don’t wear them as much as I should, but when I do, I realize how clear everything can really be. Right now, I am sitting in Research Methods and Stats looking at fuzzy words on the overhead. Serves me right.

I decided I should start making more colleges. What a newbie.

Happy, happy thursday :)

I hope that soon I can get back on the regularly-blogging-band wagon.

color wheel wednesday: mint (and friends!)

09/28/2011 by Jennifer 4 Comments

I adore mint lately. It isn’t really a “fall” color, but I’m bringing it into the season anyway. It looks so good with other colors, especially deep ones like burnt orange. The other day, I found mint colored yarn and made something kinda cute that I’ll post tomorrow.
I am also working on a seafoam green baby blanket for my stepsister’s baby! A little girl :)

And this one is my favorite:

There is a mint colored room in my house, but unfortunately, it’s the office/storage/messy place and it is hard to even walk through. My mom and I have thought it would be good as an art or pilates studio.

Anyway, happy Wednesday!

And guess what? I’m going to work at Anthropologie seasonally :) unless they really like me. I am so happy!!!
