color wheel wednesday: rainbow

09/07/2011 by Jennifer 3 Comments

Yesterday, I tutored two little boys at my internship. Homework Club Girl is one name for me, but I also go by Miss Jennifer. I began our homework sesh with a discussion about our favorite colors. One of the boys decided that he loved all colors. When I asked him to pick only his very favorite, he replied, “Okay…pink. And green. And orange. And purple, kind of, and blue and yellow.” I agree. How can you choose just one?

Sometimes it is too hard to appreciate only one or two colors at a time.

mondays aren’t so bad

09/06/2011 by Jennifer 7 Comments

especially when they are free of labor.

source: thxthxthx <<< love this place
I love starting off the week on a good note. Today involved Belgian waffles, a swimming pool, and some of my favorite people, so I think it was a great start.
These are a few of my projects from last week:
I am obsessed with silicone molds! They are so fun. The flower ones worked perfectly, and then I bought a few others (including the sand dollar) from Molds. Can’t wait to make more of these and paint them.

Happy Monday to everyone, though it is almost over. And Happy Labor Day :)

sunday snapshots: labor day weekend

09/04/2011 by Jennifer 3 Comments

Happy Labor Day Weekend! I am not taking a trip to the beach this weekend, but if I were, I would want it to look a little something like this.

Carefree, with cute shoes and a hat.

Instead, I am doing something equally fun – house sitting all weekend long with two of my lovely roommates. Tonight, we are having people over for pool time and a BBQ!
Currently, I am mastering the art of being productive and relaxing at the same time. It’s nice to read interesting textbooks while lying on a comfy couch, with no worries of tests or deadlines. That is, until Tuesday rolls around.
Hope everyone is enjoying this Sunday afternoon :)

Deep brownish red with a hint of orange. I love it.

Rust, like teal, is one of those colors that are specific and yet have so many variations.

I feel like I have been taking a blog vacation even though it has only been a few days. I just have to get situated with assignments and reading schedules. One more year, one more year…!
Notice all of the Anthropologie products? This afternoon, I had an interview there (!!!!!)
Unfortunately, I can’t say whether it was good or bad since it was so incredibly fast paced and basic. I was a little disappointed that I couldn’t share much about myself. Now only time will tell. And if I don’t get a second interview, I’ll be okay with that.

PS. Is anyone else using the new Blogger interface? It is pretty!

sunday snapshots: marine world

“Marine – World – Africa – USA!”

We celebrated Adalin’s 8th birthday at Six Flags Discovery Kingdom. Obviously its former name is better :)

I have a genuine fear of butterflies. They are so pretty but whenever they get near me, I freak out.
look at this creepy one!
My arts and crafts small group begins tomorrow! After the big introductory meeting, we will probably just have enough time to say our names, but still…exciting!

wintery felt bows

08/27/2011 by Jennifer 4 Comments

I have tried crocheting bows or making them out of yarn but they’re never quite how I want them to be, so I bought some felt yesterday (sooo cheap), and I followed a tutorial by the moonlit nest!

This one is my favorite so far, because I used fabric to tie it together instead of felt. Fabric = endless possibilities.
As of now, I have only made these grey ones and a red one. While picking out the felt squares, I was feeling wintery and thinking only of what I would wear in my hair. Really, I should have been thinking about funky color combinations and the integration of fabric.

This weekend I am going home for my sister’s 8th birthday. We’re going to Discovery Kingdom tomorrow which is always a mixed-feelings kinda place. Childhood memories. Cute animals. But at the same time, these animals are probably miserable. Anyway, it’s no time to be an activist :)
Also, tonight I’m seeing The Help! Has anyone else seen it? I think it looks amazing.
