Moon Inspired Products & Projects

05/27/2015 by Jennifer 1 Comment

Whenever I feel a little off or encounter people who may be having “a day”, I think about the moon. I don’t know anything about moon phases and how they affect people, but growing up my mom would always blame weird days, crazy drivers, sassy customers, etc. on the moon. And now I do it too, mostly just for fun (but kind of for real).

Last summer, moon-related things were really trendy. Are they still? I hope so because I’m doing a roundup! I get tired of trends very quickly, so I always try not to overdo it (sometimes failing). I only have one simple moon print, so I think I’m on the right track.

While I was sifting through moon products, I couldn’t help but gather up a bunch of moon-related DIY projects. I am seriously so obsessed with each of these. Couldn’t pick a favorite if I tried.

Best Candles For Fall

10/29/2014 by Jennifer 7 Comments

Each fall, the arrival of color-changing leaves is accompanied by an abundant supply of the most comforting candles. When I worked at Anthropologie, I would joke that smelling candles was a very important part of my job. Not technically true, but I tried to fit in that activity whenever possible. At my new job, I have found a few more favorite candle brands that have the most amazing fall scents. I decided to gather up a bunch of candles that I love this season, along with some that I haven’t smelled in real life but probably would love just as much.

Best Candles for Fall | Earl Grey Blog

1. Woodfire Candle | Furbish Studio
2. Spicy Apple Beeswax Blend Votive | Rosy Rings
3. Balsam & Cedar Mini Tin Candle | Furbish Studio
4. Teakwood & Tobacco Candle | Moorea Seal
5. Fallen Birch Branch Votive Set | Terrain
6. Copper Octagon Candle in Mahogany | Leif
7. Acorn Candle in Cranberry Fig | Anthropologie
8. Bourbon + Brown Sugar Candle | Sydney Hale Co.
9. Earl Grey Scented Candle | Orla Kiely

Do any of these stand out to you? The bourbon and brown sugar candle is most intriguing to me. Mmm!

Plaid Patterns for Fall

10/14/2014 by Jennifer 1 Comment

I’m one of those people whose style changes drastically at the turn of each season. I wear bright colors and florals all year and then as soon as it feels like autumn, I get heart eyes for dark rich colors, warm sweaters, and apparently plaid. My love for plaid is purely seasonal (sorry plaid!). I know that I probably won’t think about wearing plaid after January, but right now I think it’s the prettiest.

Plaid Styles for Fall | Earl Grey Blog

1. Plaid Automatic Stick Umbrella | Totes
2. Of Your Own Accordion Flat | ModCloth
3. Tartan Mugs | Williams Sonoma
4. Soft Woven Plaid Notebook | Alexander Olch
5. Late Night Lecture Bag | ModCloth
6. Burberry Plaid Designer iPhone Case | All is One on Society6
7. Plaid Behavior Dress | ModCloth
8. Plaid Infinity Scarf | Sole Society
9. Plaid Print Hair Bow | ASOS

I still can’t decide it if would be wise or not to buy something plaid knowing that I’ll be over it by spring, but I’m thinking that hair bow could be a nice seasonal accessory. What do you think? Are you a plaid person?

Schoolhouse Electric Favorites

10/07/2014 by Jennifer 5 Comments

In celebration of starting my new job at Schoolhouse Electric & Supply Co. (today!), I want to share some of my favorite products from their website. I am someone who gets tired of quirky styles very quickly so I try to only buy home items that feel classic. It’s almost like a discipline. A few months ago, I was dead set on owning a hot pink couch, but now I’m over it. See? Gotta stick with the simple stuff. Luckily, Schoolhouse Electric knows what’s up. I don’t think I will ever get tired of their timeless midcentury modern style.

Aside from beginning a new job, I am working on a new website! I’ve been dreaming it up all year long. The more I finish in the next couple of weeks, the more details I can share soon. So excited.

Talk to you soon! Have a beautiful autumn Tuesday.

The Best of Swedish Clogs

08/27/2014 by Jennifer 4 Comments

I think most of us can agree that Swedish Hasbeens are maybe the cutest shoes that have ever walked the earth. But I’ve been finding there are many more brands of Swedish clogs that are equally as good lookin’. I really hope to score a pair of affordable ones before the year is over. I love that they look cute throughout all four seasons. Theses beauties have a special way of making sandals with socks acceptable. (Yeah, I went there!)

2. Lena Coco | NINA Z
3. Two Strap Mid Heel Clog | Totokaelo

I am smitten. Are you into wooden shoes? Whenever I say “wooden shoes”, I think of When the Stars go Blue by Ryan Adams (or um, Haley from One Tree Hill).

Have a nice Wednesday! And let me know if you have any other clog store recommendations. :)

Create a Happier Workspace

08/06/2014 by Jennifer 3 Comments

Accomplishing blog and business-type goals is much easier when I have exciting, new office supplies. There is a science behind that, right?  If you handed my 8-year-old self a Lisa Frank notebook, I would suddenly be so excited to write about even the most boring school subjects. In high school, I tried to be cool and minimal but I secretly looked for any excuse to buy new school supplies. And in college, I was all about those fresh new Moleskine journals.

Nowadays, I love a mix of workspace styles. I think I’m happiest when I’m working with bright supplies, but I do love a good plain, blank notebook.

Create a Happier Workspace | Earl Grey Blog

1. Assembly Home Cone Table Lamp – Urban Outfitters
2. Mint Tape Dispenser – Poppin
3. Glasses Pocket iPhone 5 Case – Kate Spade
4. Solid Washi Tape – Kate Spade Saturday, sold out. (similar)
5. Hanging Desk Organizer – Anthropologie
6. Lil’ Bunny Paper Clips – The Container Store
7. Page Tabs – Russel + Hazel
8. Minimal Planners – Poketo
9. Kraft Square Sticky Notes – Moorea Seal
10. Slip-On Calculator – Anthropologie
11. Golden Ruler – Moorea Seal
12. Color Block Pens – Poketo

This summer, my workspace has been my bed or my couch, but hopefully I’ll get this place together enough to set up a tiny desk somewhere. What’s your ideal workspace like? Are you more minimal or more Lisa Frank (so to speak)?
