Plaid Patterns for Fall

10/14/2014 by Jennifer 1 Comment

I’m one of those people whose style changes drastically at the turn of each season. I wear bright colors and florals all year and then as soon as it feels like autumn, I get heart eyes for dark rich colors, warm sweaters, and apparently plaid. My love for plaid is purely seasonal (sorry plaid!). I know that I probably won’t think about wearing plaid after January, but right now I think it’s the prettiest.

Plaid Styles for Fall | Earl Grey Blog

1. Plaid Automatic Stick Umbrella | Totes
2. Of Your Own Accordion Flat | ModCloth
3. Tartan Mugs | Williams Sonoma
4. Soft Woven Plaid Notebook | Alexander Olch
5. Late Night Lecture Bag | ModCloth
6. Burberry Plaid Designer iPhone Case | All is One on Society6
7. Plaid Behavior Dress | ModCloth
8. Plaid Infinity Scarf | Sole Society
9. Plaid Print Hair Bow | ASOS

I still can’t decide it if would be wise or not to buy something plaid knowing that I’ll be over it by spring, but I’m thinking that hair bow could be a nice seasonal accessory. What do you think? Are you a plaid person?

Happy Fall Giveaway

09/23/2014 by Jennifer 3 Comments

Good morning and Happy Fall! To those of you who stuck it out and waited to celebrate until the “official” first day of fall, high five! To those who went ahead and celebrated fall on the 1st of September, I don’t blame you. There is nothing quite like the first rainy day after (or sometimes during) summer. Or the first time needing to bring a sweater outside. Or the first chai latte. Fall is magical.

Happy Fall Giveaway | Earl Grey Blog

Today, Angela of If Found, Make and I are teaming up for a very special giveaway. If you haven’t met Angela yet, she is the owner of Garden and Sea, an Etsy shop full of beautiful hand crocheted accessories. She also blogs at If Found, Make, where she shares everything from DIY projects to resources for creatives. Over the weekend, I traveled to LA and was able to meet up with Angela for coffee! We decided that a great way to welcome fall would be to give away some cozy fall essentials.

Happy Fall Giveaway | Earl Grey Blog

One lucky winner is going to receive a large crocheted infinity scarf in grey from Angela and a crocheted slouchy beanie in taupe from me (as seen in the photos above). There are six different ways to enter using the Rafflecopter widget below. The giveaway will run until midnight on Wednesday October 1st. Good luck! :)

ps. We are happy to ship internationally! This giveaway is open to everybody.

The Best of Swedish Clogs

08/27/2014 by Jennifer 4 Comments

I think most of us can agree that Swedish Hasbeens are maybe the cutest shoes that have ever walked the earth. But I’ve been finding there are many more brands of Swedish clogs that are equally as good lookin’. I really hope to score a pair of affordable ones before the year is over. I love that they look cute throughout all four seasons. Theses beauties have a special way of making sandals with socks acceptable. (Yeah, I went there!)

(top left to right)

1. Super High Malena | Funkis
2. Lena Coco | NINA Z
3. Two Strap Mid Heel Clog | Totokaelo
4. Flora | Swedish Hasbeens
5. Herringbone Green Clog | Cape Clogs
6. Annabella Ankle Wrap | Bryr
7. 667 Mia Clog | Funkis
8. Suzanne Debutant | Swedish Hasbeens

I am smitten. Are you into wooden shoes? Whenever I say “wooden shoes”, I think of When the Stars go Blue by Ryan Adams (or um, Haley from One Tree Hill).

Have a nice Wednesday! And let me know if you have any other clog store recommendations. :)

Fictional Style | Betty Suarez

07/22/2014 by Jennifer 5 Comments

Today’s lady of the day is Betty Suarez – unlikely fashionista and ultimate fictional bestie. I jumped on the Ugly Betty bandwagon many years after the show was tragically cancelled in 2010, but I’m so glad I did! Betty Suarez is, in a word, my hero. She sees the best in everyone even when they’re the worst (talking to you, Wilhelmina). I feel like if we were friends we would throw the most colorful, happy fiestas together. And I just love how she embraces her crazy, mismatch style and never compromises who she is for anyone. On the show her style is deemed ugly, but in real life we all know she would be featured on style blogs left and right.

1. Flirt Clear Red Frame Glasses – Asos (out of stock)
2. Yellow Bowknot Wool Blend Coat – SheInside $33.06
3. Butterfly Enclosure Wedge in Grey – ModCloth $109.99
4. Zoom Bisou Top in Miami – ModCloth $39.99
5. Tights for Every Occasion in Cobalt – ModCloth $14.99
6. Ponte Pencil Skirt – Mango $39.99

I would wear any of these items separately but I know my girl Betty would happily wear them all together, looking and feeling fabulous. Don’t you just wish she could come out of the TV and be a BFF to all of us? I certainly do.

Arro Home

07/15/2014 by Jennifer Leave a Comment

Do you ever come across something so pretty that you think, “Shut up! This can’t possibly be real.” And you turn into the emoji smiley with hearts in its eyes? That is how I feel about Arro Home. I just discovered Arro Home via The Design Files. This homewares shop is based in Melbourne and features products from local designers. The use of colors and patterns here is enough design eye candy to last me a long while.

Right now Arro Home ships only in Australia, but I hear international shipping is coming eventually. I’ll be crossing my fingers and saving my money!

Ahh! What I wouldn’t give to make my tiny home like those rooms above.

Round Mirror Roundup

07/07/2014 by Jennifer Leave a Comment

My studio is looking rather plain these days since I don’t really have any furniture yet. Even so, I love how spacious and open it feels. After the furniture is moved in, I’m hoping to find ways to keep the room bright and spacious-looking (even if it’s actually tiny). Mirrors are said to make rooms appear larger so I’ll definitely be taking full advantage of that. Mirrors everywhere!

Right now I have these hanging mirrors from Anthro and I love them. They’re so simple and easy to place on the wall. But I’m also really digging round mirrors these days.

My favorites are 1 and 3. I also love all of the starburst mirror DIY projects all over the internet, particularly this one. Do you like your mirrors a certain shape or size? I guess the possibilities are endless!
