Eames, Please!

07/29/2014 by Jennifer 6 Comments

Can we all agree that Eames chairs make every room a little bit better? They are everywhere I look here in Portland. In boutiques, coffee shops, creative workspaces, and kitchens. Even though Eames have been real trendy the past couple years, they are far from overrated in my humble opinion. I will keep them on my wish list until that fateful day when magically I find them in a thrift store, discounted at a crazy beautiful price. That could happen, right? I guess I am just an optimist.

Are you an Eames lover too?? Someday when I have a bigger place, I may invest in these Eames-style chairs. They’re $119 for a set of two, which is a little unbelievable. I’m perfectly fine with knockoffs in this case.

Arro Home

07/15/2014 by Jennifer Leave a Comment

Do you ever come across something so pretty that you think, “Shut up! This can’t possibly be real.” And you turn into the emoji smiley with hearts in its eyes? That is how I feel about Arro Home. I just discovered Arro Home via The Design Files. This homewares shop is based in Melbourne and features products from local designers. The use of colors and patterns here is enough design eye candy to last me a long while.

Right now Arro Home ships only in Australia, but I hear international shipping is coming eventually. I’ll be crossing my fingers and saving my money!

Ahh! What I wouldn’t give to make my tiny home like those rooms above.

Round Mirror Roundup

07/07/2014 by Jennifer Leave a Comment

My studio is looking rather plain these days since I don’t really have any furniture yet. Even so, I love how spacious and open it feels. After the furniture is moved in, I’m hoping to find ways to keep the room bright and spacious-looking (even if it’s actually tiny). Mirrors are said to make rooms appear larger so I’ll definitely be taking full advantage of that. Mirrors everywhere!

Right now I have these hanging mirrors from Anthro and I love them. They’re so simple and easy to place on the wall. But I’m also really digging round mirrors these days.

My favorites are 1 and 3. I also love all of the starburst mirror DIY projects all over the internet, particularly this one. Do you like your mirrors a certain shape or size? I guess the possibilities are endless!

Sofas + Loveseats for my Dream Home

07/02/2014 by Jennifer 2 Comments

Today I am picking up the keys to my new apartment! I’m so excited and so thankful. Everything worked out really well in the knick of time (my sublet was about to run out!) and I found an affordable place right in the middle of downtown. It’s a tiny, old, charming studio that I think can easily be made cute with a little help from Ikea and all the great vintage stores around here.

I’ve been dreaming about what kind of couch I want. Realistically, my dad will probably bring up a small loveseat from home or I will thrift one. But if money grew on trees, I would invest in one of these beauties:

sofas-loveseats

1. Pennie Sofa – Crate & Barrel $899.00
2. West Loveseat – Joybird $1599.00
3. Taylor Loveseat – Thrive Furniture $1599.00
4. Rue Petal Apartment Sofa – CB2 $849.00
5. Charlotte Sofa – Urban Outfitters $1199.00
6. The Logan Sofa – APT2B $798.00
7. Club Spray 3-Seater Sofa – CB2 $1274.00

I can’t stop thinking about the pink sofa, but I know that my pink phase may not last forever. Maybe I can find a good couch cover.

Which is your favorite? If I had to choose one now, I’d probably go for #2. Or #3. Goodness, decisions are hard!
