happy (almost) cesar chavez day!

03/31/2012 by Jennifer 1 Comment

In honor of César Chávez, my friend Sara and I made alfajores and horchata this afternoon! Just kidding. She made everything while I stood nearby playing “Draw Something” on my phone and eventually photographing things for Etsy (!!!).

Our wonderful cookies came from a recipe in Martha Stewart’s book of cookies. If you would like to make these, I recommend this recipe because…Martha Stewart recommends it.

By the way, it is officially Spring Break, which means I am getting ready to go to Phoenix! My roommate and I are flying down and driving her new car back up. I have never been to Phoenix, except for to the airport. Anyone know of any fun things to do there?

new etsy shop sneak peak!

03/29/2012 by Jennifer 3 Comments

It’s finally Spring Break! Well, almost. I’m in class right now (oops), but soon I’ll be heading home to get to work on the new Earl Grey Etsy shop.
Here are some things that will be for sale:
I started making these soy candles a few weeks ago. I love them! They smell so good, too.

We’ll be selling lots of vintage clothing as well! I can’t wait to get this going because our inventory is getting pretty big :)

My goal is to have the shop up by Saturday. Then, over the next few weeks, it will be filled with many pretty things. Thanks again for transitioning with me from The Honey Haven to Earl Grey :)

gotta do whatcha gotta do (changes!)

03/24/2012 by Jennifer 5 Comments

If we have been blog buddies for a while, then you know that I like to change things around every now and then. Even at the risk of seeming hasty or inconsistent. But I see it as a necessary part of branding and marketing! Right? Good things will come from good changes…eventually.

A while ago, I blogged about my Dream Job – to own a vintage and handmade shop. A real brick and mortar shop in a lively, happy town. That will be a slow process. One that takes tons of patience. But it will happen when it is supposed to happen. Right now, I am going to curate this shop online in the next month or two, probably through Etsy but maybe with a cute storefront website.
Anyway, onto my big point. I have a blog/business partner!

This girl is so lovely. We have had a great time thrifting, getting coffee, and adventuring this semester (all of my favorite things!). It just so happens that Kat and I have the same dream job, and so we are just going to make it happen together.
I am so happy! Also, in my dream job post, I mentioned that I have a new name picked out.

follow with bloglovin’!
It resonates with my soul for many reasons, and thankfully Kat’s too. We are so excited to start blogging together and make this a real thing!
So, you know what this means. Goodbye to The Honey Haven. It was short-lived but sweet, and I will still be loving/blogging about bees of course.
I am going to officially change the URL in a few days, so I’ll blog about that again. If we are sponsor friends, I’ll email you my new button. As far as my Etsy goes, I’ll probably keep it going simultaneously with Earl Grey for a while, and then sync them together.
Thanks for understanding!

an afternoon with ashley

03/22/2012 by Jennifer 3 Comments

A few weekends ago, I spent the day with my dear friend Ashley. We became friends in second grade! It was so wonderful to catch up finally, because it had been a while. Also, while we were sitting at a Thai food restaurant, the Spice Girls came on the radio. So that was pretty significant :)
Ashley is graduating from Sonoma State in May, so we took some fun graduation pictures! These are just a few of my favorites.

Isn’t Ashley such a model? It was hard to choose my favorites out of the hundreds of pictures we took!

honeybee tuesday

03/14/2012 by Jennifer 6 Comments

Remember a few days ago when I was full of hope that winter wouldn’t return? Weeelll, it’s back. It isn’t so terrible though. Just a good excuse to stay inside, wear comfy clothes, and drink a lot of tea.

I feel like even if I am blogging and reading blogs, I am still on a mental hiatus. My psychology comprehensive exam is next week, and once it’s over, I will feel so free.
So I have been studying a lot. But when I am not studying, I’m working on some things for Etsy! Some are made of yarn. Some are vintage treasures. Some smell really good. Most of the time, I just want to skip the whole selling online thing and open up a boutique. I know it’ll happen, but I’ve gotta learn to have some patience.
Anyway, on to my main point: honeybees! I love this print.

I can’t wait to someday have bees of my own. They are amazing creatures. :)

thrifted thursday | flowers & buttons

03/08/2012 by Jennifer 7 Comments

Nothing new this week! But I still love these finds. :)
These buttons were a lovely find. Each bingo sheet contained a different color of the buttons. It took forever to settle on these ones!
Ah! Love these! I will probably be selling them soon though :)

And the collection grows…

Hope I can get back to thrifting in the next week or so :) Times are crazy in college land.
