pse actions – baby steps

10/30/2011 by Jennifer 3 Comments

I have been experimenting with some actions from Oh So Posh Photography, and they are so fun! Like I said, I’m getting used to Photoshop Elements, because I would never spend money on the real deal.

This is my stepsister Cindra who is very pregnant. In fact, she is in labor as I type this :) I am so happy for her. She’s so pretty.
Soon there will be a new little girl in the family :)
(ps. like my double-meaning title?)

iphone cases (help!)

10/24/2011 by Jennifer 2 Comments

Happy Monday! I am going to make time for more blogging this week. I just have to learn how plan my time well. Right now, I am waiting for my iPhone 4S in the mail (yay!) which is great because my current phone is failing big time. I hear that happens over time. Plus it’s a hand-me-down, so it has probably been through a lot. I came across these beautiful phone cases and now I’m having trouble deciding which one to get.

These are all from Society6 by Joy StClaire, Cassia Beck, and Grace Breyley
And then there’s this one…
Tara Put

Aren’t they all so cute?

Which one should I pick? I don’t want something I will get tired of. Right now I am mostly loving the blue books, the sky/ocean, and the teacup. I was definitely looking for something with bees on it, and bees + a kitten + a teacup are too good to be true.

PS. I love puglypixel‘s downloads. Slowly, I am learning to make use of Photoshop Elements, because I don’t want to spend money on the real photoshop. It has taken me forever to put actions and templates onto Elements, but I’m finally understanding. :)

sfg recap: flowers, pumpkins, and creation care.

10/17/2011 by Jennifer 2 Comments

Hello! This morning, I led my arts and crafts small group. I improvised this quick coffee filter flower craft due to our limited resources. And they turned out so pretty! A lot of us made multicolored flowers, which looked so nice together. I love how the colors run down to the rest of the filter because of the water.

The Process
1. Fold and scrunch up coffee filter(s)
2. Dampen the edges
3. Dip edges in watercolors
4. Add green pipe cleaner for stem
5. Create a colorful bouquet :)

I’ll post a more detailed tutorial (not that it’s complicated…) later.

We also made these pumpkins out of yarn, which I love. I don’t understand how they end up looking like pumpkins, but it is amazing. I am definitely going to make these with different colored yarn (red for apples) soon. My roommate and I will probably have a room full of pumpkins and flowers in no time.

Tutorial found here

Before crafting, we talked a little about some good, eco-friendly books, one of which I have already posted about.

PS. Today would have been my Aunt Linda’s 50th Birthday, so we are having a family get together. My mom texted me this morning and told me she wanted to start looking for a kitty, which she would call Lindy Lou :)

october hiatus

10/16/2011 by Jennifer 1 Comment

A few nights ago, my grandpa passed away :( So I have been home this weekend with my mom. We’re doing surprisingly well. It’s one of those things where we have to trust that he is happy now, even though we can’t see it. Heaven becomes all the more unfathomable when something like this happens. I just want to know what it is like. This year has been really hard for my family but we know that Grandpa and Linda are together.

October is beautiful. I never have really noticed because November is my very favorite month (birthday month!) I am inspired by a lot of things that I want to share soon. Hopefully after my last midterms this week, I will get on track again. I also want to change up the look of my blog. Fun, fun :)

color wheel wednesday: anthro

10/06/2011 by Jennifer 6 Comments

I’m not going to talk about a favorite color tonight, but rather a spectrum of colors and inspiration called Anthropologie. Today was my first day of training! I feel so, so blessed to work there and I really hope it becomes more than a seasonal thing.

my favorite of course :) source

This has been such a beautiful day, completed with a walk in the freezing cold, a gorgeous sunset and movies with roomies and friends. I am thankful.

They just called me! I’m starting on Wednesday. Dream come true.
