Happy Valentine’s Day

02/14/2013 by Jennifer 4 Comments

As much as I have wanted to skip this day, there is no escaping it. It’s Valentine’s Day. And I LOVE Valentine’s Day. It’s a happy day for some… a frustrating day for others. And let’s just say I am feeling it all. A little sad and indifferent, and yet I feel the need to have pink nails and wear polka dots today. You know.

I have been doing a lot of thinking about what brings me joy and makes my heart leap. Having this blog is a big part of it. Being inspired by all of you crafty folk is such a beautiful thing, and I am really thankful.

So to all my blog friends, thank you thank you thank you for inspiring me as much as you do. Without you, I wouldn’t have a clue how to pursue all those hopes and dreams. :)

Love love love you all!

I hope everybody finds a way to celebrate today…whether it is by being with your sweetheart, buying yourself flowers, or going shopping with your mom. Which is what I am doing today. There is no reason not to celebrate love.

xoxo

Weekly Instagrams

02/11/2013 by Jennifer 4 Comments

1. Two days in a row of good times with my sisters! They are my number one ladies.
2. Some items I thrifted the other day. Thrifting shoes is always a dream come true. I have such big feet and I feel like vintage shoes are always tiny!
3. Ellie Goulding on Friday night was amazing. I’m still overwhelmed by all of it and I want to see her again asap. That girl has got some crazy talent.
4. Also, Sara and I bought tickets to see She & Him at my favorite venue this summer! Yay! I love summer concerts.

A few other good things happened that can all be summed up in the picture above. I officially began working at the Gap outlet (and bought this shirt for myself. It’s the comfiest.). I also received some sweet new glasses in the mail. I love them a lot. Annnndd, I got myself a new camera lens. It was a pretty exciting week as far as mail goes.

Stay tuned for even more exciting mail news in the morning. :)

Goodnight!

A few lists

02/01/2013 by Jennifer 4 Comments

Sometimes I just have a bunch of favorite things that don’t belong in any specific categories. That is how I am feeling today. How about some lists?

Blog posts I have been loving lately:

Live an Inspired Life – A Beautiful Mess
Your Readers’ Pet Peeves – In a Pretty Box
Why Becoming a Vegan was the Best Thing I Ever Did – Going Home to Roost

(The last blog post is about a year old, but I always find myself coming back to it! Hint, hint…)

Things I am super excited about:
-A couple of products I’ll be reviewing soon. They’re aaamazing.
-The sudden warm weather here. I love that familiar smell of springtime. It feels like love is in the air all the time, and I walk around smiling in a kind of dorky way. I also just like Valentine’s Day a lot.
– My product goals and ideas. The concept of “doing” rather than “dreaming” is going around a lot this year. I like both. I have been feeling super busy every day even when I am just staying at home.
-But wait! I won’t be staying home all day for much longer because I have a job. At the Gap outlet. I am so excited. :)

Plans for the near future:
-Create a ton of Valentine’s Day inspired products. I will be finishing some tomorrow and then they’ll be on the blog (and shop!).
-Host a Galentine’s Day Party.
-Become a better sewing machine-user. Seamstress? That’s a strong word. I just need to alter some clothes… and my new foot control came in the mail. Hooray!

Anyway, thanks for tuning into Random Lists with Jenn. :)

1. Earlier last week, I went to my grandma’s for lunch. She makes the best soup. And muffins. (And place mats.)
2. A cute cork from a Lucinda and Millie wine bottle. Gotta love cute corks.
3. My friend Charissa and I went antiquing around Folsom the other day! The light always shine through this shop and it’s the prettiest.
4. Green juice from Trader Joe’s is my go-to drink lately. It is too good.

One of my favorite parts of the week was this impromptu wine and cheese party. So fancy! I have some really fun friends.

(from the trip!)

5. Road trips with my dog Molly are always a challenge. She is quite smelly, but super adorable. I forgive her.
6. My uncle is helping me get some wood slabs for some (wedding!) crafts I’m working on. Yay, Steph and Dan!
7. There she goes again…
8. Thrifting today was the best. We went to some antique stores and some regular old thrift stores. That beautiful stove was almost affordable (you know, if i needed an extra stove), but it was falling apart.

At a thrift store, I came across an enormous bag of pretty fabric scraps for five dollars. Upon purchasing it, I smiled and said, “Oh I’m so happy!” The cashier looked at my aunt and said, “…did she just say she’s ‘so happy‘? Doesn’t take much.” Hmm. Surely I’m not the only one who enjoys cheap things that also happen to be useful and beautiful. Crazy lady. Anyway, I found some other treasures too, and I will probably be “so happy” about them for weeks. :)

We have one more half-day in this heavenly place, then it’s back to the real world.

ps. Happy Martin Luther King Jr. Day! What a great man, what a great day. :)

My Favorite Cottage

01/20/2013 by Jennifer 3 Comments

This weekend, my mom, grandma and I are up at my aunt and uncle’s cottage. It’s the most perfect quick getaway if we want to be surrounded by nature and the occasional family of deer. I have had many meaningful experiences here…it’s kind of a dream.

Visiting my aunt and uncle always includes some of my very favorite things: bluegrass, puzzles, and a whole lot of yummy treats. Tomorrow, my aunt is taking me thrifting around here. She collects all kinds of great antiques, so I will learn some of her secrets. Hooray!

ps. Every now and then I realize that I am terrible at organizing photos on my computer. My laptop is hating me right now. Does anyone know of a really, really awesome photo organizing tool? I’ve used iPhoto, Picasa, and Adobe Elements. Also, does anybody have a favorite external hard drive? Thanks!! :)

One of my favorite things about January is that I get to search for the perfect planner. I found this one at Target in November and I spent the next two months staring at it, waiting till I would finally be able to use it. I think it’s the best. Yay!

My project of the week (month?) has been making these cozy cowls. One afternoon, I tried to photograph them for Etsy. I don’t usually model my products because I can’t take a self portrait to save my life. Let’s just say, my tripod is my greatest frenemy. That whole dealio resulted in me taking dorky pictures of myself on my phone. Ta da!

I hastily spent a Target gift card on these beautiful boots! I’m in love…

I made this bee headband for my friend Lauren. I’ve never crocheted a bee! It was the quickest project.

Oh and speaking of bees! Got these gloves…I’m a little obsessed with them.

The other day, my friend Justine and I had “High Tea” at a cute little tea place. Everything about it was adorable and the tea selection was perfect. After our tea and brunch, we went to the dress up closet and got a little fancy. :)

And a few things I thrifted the other day.

This week, I’m devoting my time to businessy goals. It’s time to get serious.

How was your week??
