22 before 23, revisited

05/16/2013 by Jennifer 7 Comments

Yesterday was my half birthday! So I thought it would be fun to revisit these twenty two goals.

These are kind of funny to look at! Some goals were accomplished, others were not (like cooking…sheesh). Some don’t even seem very accomplishable, they’re just work-in-progress ideas.

Now a little off topic (but kind of still related) – a couple of big things have happened in the last week! Some friends and I found a really lovely house to live in beginning this fall. I’m so happy it worked out. The house I live in right now is so cute and old and charming, but it’s just too darn small. I have been getting really frustrated and overwhelmed whenever I try to do so much as crochet. I need more space. In my new room this fall, I am going to have TWO closets! What the heck! It’s adorable, and we’re already dreaming about decorating and having people over.

For the next few months I will enjoy the tiny house and try not to be too scattered and messy. My roommate Sara and I are planning an exciting party for next month :) can’t wait.

The second big thing I’m doing is saying adios (temporarily) to my shop on Etsy. I have so many hopes for it, but it is just not going anywhere and hasn’t for a long time. Whenever I’m not working at my day job, I feel like I am being pulled in so many directions and I end up not getting anything done at all. Putting Etsy on the back burner will be healthy for me. Hopefully in the next month or two, I will bring it back. For now, I am so so so excited to just focus on this blog. In order to downsize my messy craft supplies, I’ll be DIYing it up, all the time. I’m so excited. :)

bottlerock napa valley

05/14/2013 by Jennifer Leave a Comment

This past weekend was the first BottleRock Napa Valley festival! Lauren and I attended on Saturday, but I’m wishing we would have bought tickets for Friday, too. The lineup was amazing. :) Here are some highlights, brought to you by my iPhone, including my photo sesh with the one and only beautiful hippie with soul, Allen Stone.

Meeting Allen Stone was the highlight of the day. That man is the BEST! His voice is unbelievable and his spirit is so free and so nice. If you haven’t listened to him, press play on the video below. Seriously, do it.

We also had fun seeing Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros (always so beautiful!), Bad Religion, Iron and Wine, and Kings of Leon. An eclectic day, indeed! I can’t wait to see what next year’s BottleRock has in store. :)

happy mother’s day!

05/14/2013 by Jennifer Leave a Comment

Just a day late :)

I hope everyone had a beautiful Mother’s Day yesterday. I worked for most of the day and night, but I was able to see my mom and lots of my family in the morning! Here’s a cute picture of my grandma, my parents, and me:

It was very much the 90s :)

S’mores Party Outcome

05/10/2013 by Jennifer 8 Comments

Wednesday evening was a success! I had a few people over for s’mores and I had lots of fun decorating the tiny kitchen. People came over in waves. Many friends of friends, who were all very nice. I had fun pretending it was summer, as I so often do. :)

I love having days off, whether they are spent watching countless episodes of Lost, having get togethers, or doing productive “grown up” things. Yesterday, I spent the day painting, crocheting, and working on a crazy optical illusion puzzle with my grandma. Today, I am going back to work.

Have a beeaauutiful Friday :)

s’mores party inspiration

05/08/2013 by Jennifer 8 Comments

Tonight I’m throwing a little s’mores party for my neighbors and a few friends. It’s going to be pretty classic because, well, I just decided to make it happen a few days ago. Someday in the future, I hope to throw a well thought out s’mores party complete with every type of chocolate and fruit and graham cracker in the world, as well as s’mores ice cream, a cocktail bar, a swimming pool, twinkle lights, and a DJ. I’m just kidding. But can you imagine…?

one, two, three, four, five

I have been dreaming about those strawberry banana s’mores all week and I might just make some tonight. :)

Well, I’m off to buy some supplies! Do you have any special way that you like to eat s’mores? I’m always up for new ideas.

Lazy Days & Writer’s Block

05/07/2013 by Jennifer 6 Comments

Whenever I’m busy working, I daydream about my days off. My ideal day off looks like this: sleep in a little (but not obscenely late), have coffee and breakfast, blog, make some products, walk downtown and have coffee with a friend, come home, eat, have a glass of wine, watch tv, and go to sleep.

It isn’t like that. Today is my first day off in a week…my body is tired and my mind is blank. So much for all those plans! I guess sometimes you have to let yourself rest before you jump into projects or goals, no matter how exciting they seem.

I’m just gonna watch some Revenge and crochet now. I’ll be back tomorrow with some thoughts on s’mores. I’m all about conquering really serious topics like that. :)
