A few happy moments of the week…

1. I saw Stevie Wonder on Sunday, but you already know about that. :) :)
2. Sara and I discovered our new favorite wine the other night. It isn’t too fancy…I mean it’s from Raley’s. But it is tasty.
3. My sisters and I went out to lunch on Thursday. These girls are crazy! (ps. Shout out to my sister Danali whose seventh birthday is today! Happy Birthday. I love you. You’re probably reading this since you are extremely tech savvy for a seven year old.)
4. After a series of wonderful dates, this real cool guy asked me to be his gf. You’ll probably be seeing him around… I like him a lot.

Well, today I am off to a tomato festival! Happy Saturday!

Ahhh! I can’t wait to take their wedding photos. It will be a gorgeous day.

ps. I’m thinking about doing the sponsor thing again next month! Through Passionfruit Ads. Has anyone used it? What do you think about it? Lemme know your thoughts :)

SF Outside Lands 2012

08/13/2012 by Jennifer 3 Comments

You guys, I’m so happy right now. This weekend was perfect.

On Saturday, I went into the city with my friend Katie and her best friend Abby. The weather was great (at first). We watched Portugal the Man and Explosions in the Sky. Had some wine. Laughed a lot. Then, we went over to see Passion Pit (as shown above). They were not our favorite so we just waited for Katie’s favorite song before moving on to Dr. Dog.

I ended up losing Katie and Abby and since I’m not really into crowds, I found my way out and bought some tea. The weather was all the sudden so freezing, I half expected it to start snowing. And unfortunately, I was dressed for 70-80 degree weather. Whoops. We ended the night with Sigur Ros. Followed by In-in-Out. It was a lovely evening :)

But the main reason I decided to go to Outside Lands was for Sunday. My friends and I decided it would be The Best Day Ever and I really think it might’ve been, though I really truly say that about so many days. I don’t have many complaints except for that maybe Stevie Wonder was too good, and I didn’t get to meet him and become one of his backup singers or something.

Okay, debriefing time. I feel the need to do this captain’s log-style:

11:00am: T.J., Shelby, and I got to the city in the morning and found the greatest parking spot.
12:00pm: We went over to Golden Gate Park as Allen Stone was singing with his soulful, beautiful voice. SO good.
1:30pm: Next up was fun. Again, beautiful, beautiful voices. They were so good and I felt bad for having only listened to them on the radio.
2:40pm: During Franz Ferdinand, we sat on the grass. Because we only knew one song…you know the one.
4:00pm: I accomplished my life long dream of seeing Regina Spektor. This lady!!! She was adorable and kind and everything had I hoped for! Except she didn’t play any of my favorite songs. Soviet Kitsch, y’all.

5:25pm: Jack White. I tried so hard to get into his music. I mean he’s Jack White. I waited… and waited… and then he played the catchiest country song and I decided that I love him.

7:20pm: Stevie Wonder!!!!! Oh my goodness. I don’t have words… we danced a lot. We were happy. It was so good.

10:30pm: Wonderful conversation. Delicious tacos.

I’m struggling to come up with any adjectives besides “wonderful” and “good” and “perfect” and “beautiful”, so I’ll just leave it at that.

:)

1. Took photos of Lexi and Aaron! I still need to post more of those. That day was amazing and it gave me a new appreciation of adventurous photo location hunting :)
2. I spent a few hours in Folsom and window shopped for some nice kitchen supplies. We move into our new house in…three weeks! Ohmygoodness!!!
3. My mom’s friend Jane was out of town for a while and gave us the responsibility of watering the plants and swimming! Well, if you insist :) Jane is super crafty and has the best antiques. She spray painted these chairs blue (along with some other decor outside). I’m collecting a lot of good ideas :)
4. On Sunday night, Sara and I got chai lattes in Davis. The weather was perfect and I had a moment of pure excitement to finally live in Davis.
5. I went to a CPR class for six hours. But I spent one of those hours antiquing. Again, I didn’t buy anything. Man, I am loving this newfound self control.
6. Spent an afternoon babysitting Ellie. She’s a complete gem and we make a good team on the piano together :) The cat. Well, she still doesn’t like me.
7. The new Urban Outfitters came along and I couldn’t even brace myself for the pictures inside. They’re out of control. So, I decorated Steph’s birthday card with a few of the best pictures.
8. I worked on my first DIY project! Finally!!! I’m so happy… it’s simple. But it is something.
9. And last night, I partied it up with Sara and her friends. There was swimming. There was dancing. There was pizza. Praise the Lord.

This past week has been so, so good. These are just bits and pieces. I really thought nothing could top July, but August is surprising me more and more.

Now, I’m off to the city for Outside Lands!

Lexi & Aaron Engagement

08/09/2012 by Jennifer 5 Comments

Can we just talk about how wonderful summer is? I never want it to end. The other day, I dreamt up a hypothetical 9-5 routine that consisted of watching the Olympics, editing photos, laying in the sun, and reading books (that are changing my life, for reals). I would like to make a career out of that. Anyway, lately I haven’t been on a blogging schedule because I’ve had some other focuses. I am working on crossing things off of my August list. I’m also just enjoying life a whole lot :)

For the past week, I’ve been editing these photos from a lovely, glowy engagement shoot I took of my friends, Lexi and Aaron. They are so photogenic and I loved exploring pretty orchards and fields with them.

It was seriously a beautiful day. Stay tuned for more Lexi and Aaron photos :)

August, be my guest.

08/01/2012 by Jennifer 9 Comments

July was truly my favorite month of this year so far. Here’s a little recap:

Well! I listened to this song almost every day, because it is my summer anthem. On the fourth of July, I rolled my eyes at patriotic outfits and then found myself all decked out. Whoops. That what-the-heck post college feeling of doom caught up with me and I spent a few days reflecting on what it means to follow my heart. Then, I bought a new camera. Best. Decision. Of my life. I brought my camera to beautiful Washington and was reminded along the way that my heart still lives in Portland. A couple days after returning, I had a nice time at Renegade Craft Fair and I spent less than $10. (High fiving myself right now). A few times, I almost thought I had a job. Oh, and last night I celebrated Harry Potter/JK Rowling’s birthday with some friends. I didn’t blog about that. But it was a life goal that I can finally say I have accomplished :)

Soooo, August. I have high hopes. Here, I even made list:

That overlay picture is from Pugly Pixel. I like it :)

See #2 on the list? I just purchased a beekeeping class in San Francisco for way cheap. Thank you, Groupon. I’m so excited I can’t even contain it. If I post solely bee-related blog posts this month, just feel free to ignore them.

ps. You might notice my sponsor swap buddies have disappeared! I’m taking a break from sponsor swaps while I organize my (blog) life and figure some stuff out. But hopefully I’ll start it up again soon.
