Pinterest has been a sad, sad place for me lately. This week I decided to give up dairy as an experiment to see how my skin reacts. I’ve heard amazing things from people who stop eating dairy so I thought, “why not give it a try?” It’s not like I eat a lot of dairy anyway. Um, except for PIZZA. Looking through my Pinterest boards this morning, I realized that 50% of what I pin is cheese-related. I’ve spent an embarrassing amount of time in Whole Foods this week in front of cheese products, just frowning. I’m committed to my experiment though. See ya later, pizza.
Anyway, here are some of my rare non-dairy-related pins this week:
I’d love to have a cocktail by the pool just once this season. I feel like swimming isn’t a thing here in Portland…maybe I just don’t know the right people. / This blueberry print by Sophie Brabbins is the epitome of summer.
James Garner and Audrey Hepburn being adorable. / Bright open shelving and copper cookware.
Rachel Denbow is doing a weaving series on ABM and I’m so excited to try it! I believe my grandma is the most talented weaver in the world, so I’m hoping weaving is in my blood. Also, the necklace on the right is so beautiful. Picked it up from Anthro yesterday.
What are you guys up to this weekend? Dairy-free peeps, feel free to leave me some advice! :)

That’s so funny that you mention dairy bc I LOVE it. I drink a lot of milk, and as soon as I was pregnant, it made me sick and it still does, but my doctor said I am not LT so I am not sure. I just bought some soy milk tonight, which I do like. So I will go long with you on the dairy thing :) BTW I LOVE cheese too.
I miss swimming so much. I grew up in small town on the lake and I hate it here that I cannot swim so go have fun while you can :)

That’s interesting! I wonder why it’s making you sick. Milk does weird things sometimes. Luckily I’m not a milk-drinker so it won’t be hard to give it up, but I love every kind of cheese. Ahhh… we can do it!

It’s funny you should mention your giving up dairy. I’ve been on a HUGE cheese kick these past few weeks and I definitely need to step back and reduce. I told my roomie I’d go on a two week cheese-fast if after the two weeks was up we could make a huge quiche with brie :)

Haha that’s amazing! Ugh, I love cheese so much. Giving it up is already the worst. I should probably set a limit to my cheese-fast like you and then plan a big, cheesy reward :) Quiche with brie sounds like the best!

I’ve recently given up bread (and just gluten in general) and it has made me feel so much better, I can’t imagine going back now! Not sure I could give up pizza though, that’s SERIOUS dedication! ;) Love the blueberry print!

I might surprise you, but even though I’m French, I don’t like cheese. Well, I do like melted hard cheeses like comté or gruyère on top of gratins and such, but eating unmelted cheese is very hard for me, excepted for a few (fresh goat cheese, feta, mozarella, ricotta and mascarpone, and sometimes soft and spreadable cheese if well mixed with something else!). But yeah, cheese on pizza is awesome though. However you can make some very good pizze without cheese, I remember I had a delicious dairy-free pizza in Italy that was made with cherry tomatoes sliced in two and put sliced face up on thick and moist pizza dough, with origan, olive oil and a few anchovies on top and baked. It really is awesome! Maybe you can also try using vegan cheese? I have never used them myself so I can’t tell you if it makes the trick but I plan to!
Oh and thanks for your little comment on my blog! I’m a real baby in the huge blogosphere, and your blog which is full of great tips for blogger is gonna help a lot :) so glad I discovered it!

I actually tried some dairy-free pizza the other day with vegan daiya “cheese”, but it was not the best. The pizza you’re describing sound much better/ You’re lucky you aren’t completely cursed with a cheese addiction!
Also, I’m happy to hear you like my blog! I think yours is so great too. So many wonderful recipes. :)
