I have a strong tendency to blog about things that I originally didn’t like but now almost love. In yesterday’s Ugly Betty post, you might have noticed a lot of primary colors. I have never liked primary colors, ever. Not even when I was a little kid. “Ketchup and mustard,” I’d say. Not cute. Not even with a little blue thrown in to balance things out. However, I should know by now that I can’t trust myself to make strong opinions about anything design-related because a different perspective can easily change everything. Thanks to a little interior trend called Primary Modernism, I am rethinking the way I feel about these colors.
Everybody, meet my new friends – Red, Yellow, and Blue:
1. Gigi Sharp and George Gilpin’s East Village Loft
2. Peekaboo Clear Nesting Tables – CB2
3. Arne Korsmo & Grete Prytz Kittelsen’s Mid-Century Home

4. Small Retro Apartment in Copenhagen
5. Klara Bothen’s Home in Sweden
6. Staple&Co Brand at Project82
7. Weekend Home of Fab.com Creator, Bradford Shellhammer

My favorite photo from this list is #6 probably because the mix of primary colors is so subtle. Do you enjoy mixing primary colors together, or do you have a love-hate thing going on like I do?

What gorgeous design finds! I wouldn’t say that I feel too strongly about primary colors either way, though I tend to gravitate more towards secondary colors. These finds though might inspire some more experimentation with red yellow and blue.

Oh noo lol I haven’t yet warmed up to the primary colors combo. But I will admit, that 3rd room does look like a very chic preschool.

I still wasn’t really sold on this until I got to the dining room with the little red chair. NOW I see the love! Haha. All it takes is one room.

Yes!! I probably will never have a room all decked out in primary colors, but little pops of color like that chair might make the cut. :)

Hmmm I’m not sure about it… Can’t tell if I like it or not. I think that it goes well with white or pale walls but in darker rooms it’s not the best. I think I prefer white or gray accessoiries with dark walls. Pictures 2, 3, 4 and 5 are what would work best to me. Actually, I think that primary colours look very picturesque on a romm, it’s like you’re entering a Mondarian painting!
