happy 2013! (resolutions & other goals)

01/03/2013 by Jennifer 9 Comments

Last year, my resolution was “to commit”. I thought it would be the easiest because it is such a vague thing. However, it ended up being a confusing resolution because I didn’t know what I should or shouldn’t commit to (jobs, activities, how to spend my time, etc). I went through the year not committing to much. Yikes. Maybe vague resolutions aren’t the way to go when you’re a scatterbrained college graduate.

My resolutions this year are centered around physical, emotional, and spiritual health. They have a lot to do with exercising, being thankful, leaving some stuff in 2012, taking lots of baths (yeah…I like to challenge myself.), staying creative, and getting involved where I live. I can’t wait to experience the beauty and growth of this new year. I could go further in depth, but that might turn this into a diary rather than a blog. ;)

In addition to resolutions, I have many businessy goals, which I like to think of as a whole different thing. I would like to begin focusing on one project or product at a time to avoid my craft A.D.D. that results in nothing getting accomplished. I also hope to meet and work with a lot of people with similar interests.

Happy New Year! What are your hopes for 2013?

ps. I think it is going to take me a whole year to get used to writing “2013” instead of “2012”.

Focusing on one product at a time is a good idea. I have the same issue. It always results in a near empty shop & desk full of half finished projects… a lot of tangled yarn.

I sent out a schedule to everyone at work that said “2012” yesterday! Not cool.

I can imagine that I would be in a similar position if my resolution was to commit, my time management is awful for the most part so I wouldn’t know where to begin.
I like you’re resolutions for this year, they’re much more grounded :)

I’ve just discovered your blog through Hellocotton, and I’m really excited to read your previous posts.

    Happy New year,

My goals are all over the place. Exercising and drinking more water, revamping my product lines (both of them!), getting more stuff done around the house… I’ve found it helps me to be REALLY specific with goals. Good luck and happy 2013! :-)

I think it’s really nice to get organized and be more specific with our resolutions. Something so broad would leave me confused as well! It definitely looks like you are off to a good start this year! Fingers crossed we all stay as motivated as we are right now! <3 Your blog is adorable by the way!

Most of my resolutions involve businessy goals too. I’m hoping to take my Etsy shop in a different direction, and to make my blog grow. Oh, and to exercise more :)

I have craft ADD too! I have so many projects that I have started and I haven’t gotten around to them. I really think I should take inventory of all the projects I have and then slowly work on them until they are finished. However, every time I see something on pinterest or etsy I get inspired to do other things! One of my goals for the new year is to increase the amount of items in my shop. I have given myself 6 months to get my shop up to 50 items. Right now, I’m working hard to stay focused on that.

Taking inventory of your projects sounds like a great way to become more organized! I might just do that too :) I’m also hoping to increase the number of items in my shop. Best of luck reaching your goal!
